It detects vehicles up to 175 meters (more than 190 yards) behind you, tells you how big they are and how they’re moving, and makes sure drivers see you from up to 2 km (1.24 miles) away. For riders who log real miles on shared roads, it’s the closest thing to having eyes in the back of your head.

Key Features

Long-range radar with a wider view. A 60° radar beam tracks approaching vehicles from up to 175 meters away, giving you more reliable alerts and more time to react.

Vehicle size and lane-change awareness. See whether an approaching vehicle is small, medium, or large, and when it shifts lanes, with threat levels based on speed, size, and lateral position.*

Alerts for same-speed traffic. Stay aware of vehicles pacing you, such as a car sitting behind you in slow traffic.*

Visible from 2 km away. A 100-lumen day flash and a 220° viewing angle keep you conspicuous in daylight and from the side.

Automatic brake light. Detects when you slow or stop and switches to a distinct flash pattern to warn drivers and riders behind you.

Up to 24 hours of battery life in day flash mode, or 30 hours in radar-only mode.

Compact seatpost mount fits cleanly on almost any road or gravel bike.

*Requires a compatible Garmin Edge® cycling computer or the Varia™ app.

Radar That Gives You Time to Think

Traffic rarely surprises you once you know it’s there. The RearVue 820 picks up vehicles at more than 190 yards and tracks each one as it closes in, so you can plan your line, hold your position, or ease toward the shoulder well before a car reaches you. Its wider field of view means fewer missed vehicles on bends and multi-lane roads.

Smarter Vehicle Tracking

Paired with a compatible Edge computer or the Varia app, the RearVue 820 does more than signal “car back.” It sorts vehicles by size, shows lateral position and lane changes, and grades each threat by speed, size, and range. A delivery truck closing fast in your lane registers differently than a small car drifting into the next lane over, and you’ll know which is which at a glance.

Alerts Your Way

Get visual and audible alerts on the Varia app or a compatible Edge cycling computer, or feel haptic alerts on a Garmin smartwatch.
