About The Abus MoTrip MIPS Helmet

The Abus MoTrip MIPS is a trail-focused mountain bike helmet built for riders who want reliable protection and a solid feature set without paying a premium price. Designed for demanding singletrack, it combines MIPS rotational impact protection with a Multi-Shell In-Mould construction — a process that permanently bonds the outer shell to the EPS liner for a more durable, better-fitting helmet than budget alternatives with separate shells. At 6 inlets and 8 outlets, ventilation is genuinely effective for an MTB lid in this category.

What separates the MoTrip from basic trail helmets is the attention to practical details. The GoggFit system lets riders tuck goggles under the visor without removing the helmet — useful on variable-condition rides where you're switching between clear and overcast. The helmet is also QUIN ready, meaning fall-detection capability can be added later via a separately purchased chip, without buying a new helmet. These aren't marketing extras; they're features that matter on longer or more remote rides.

Who It's For

  • Trail and enduro riders wanting MIPS protection at a mid-range price point
  • Riders who wear goggles and want clean, integrated storage on the fly
  • Ponytail wearers — the retention system is specifically designed to accommodate
  • Those who may want to add fall detection (QUIN) down the road without upgrading the helmet
  • Not ideal for road or gravel riding, e-bike use (not e-bike approved), or riders needing a size outside M (52–58cm) in this colorway

What to Look For

  • Fit first: The Zoom Ace MTB system adjusts both circumference and height, which matters for dialing in a secure fit across different head shapes — try it before you buy
  • Goggle compatibility: GoggFit works well with most standard MTB goggles, but confirm with your specific goggle model if fit is critical
  • Intended terrain: This is a trail helmet, not a full-face — appropriate for XC through aggressive trail riding, not bike park sends that call for full-face coverage

Key Features

MIPS + Multi-Shell In-Mould Construction: MIPS adds a low-friction layer that allows the helmet to rotate slightly on impact, reducing rotational force transferred to the brain. Paired with In-Mould bonding — rather than a press-fit shell over EPS — the result is a more integrated structure that holds up better over time and through minor daily impacts.

Zoom Ace MTB Fit System: Height-adjustable retention is meaningful on a trail helmet because head position and helmet stability change with terrain. The laterally adjustable TriVider webbing distributor keeps cheek straps positioned correctly even as the retention system is tuned.

GoggFit Visor Integration: The visor is designed to accept goggles tucked underneath when conditions clear up. This keeps goggles secure without dangling around the neck or stuffing them in a pack.

QUIN Ready: The MoTrip accepts the QUIN chip (sold separately), which adds automatic crash detection and emergency alerting. For riders heading out solo, this is a meaningful safety upgrade available without replacing the helmet.

Moulded Lower Shell: Adds durability at the lower edge — the area most likely to contact rocks, branches, or the ground on a slide-out.

Rider Intent Summary

  • Biggest strengths: Solid MIPS protection, practical goggle integration, and upgrade-ready fall detection in a mid-range trail helmet
  • Tradeoffs: No integrated light, not e-bike certified, and ventilation — while good for the category — won't match higher-end helmets with more aggressive channeling
  • What makes it different: QUIN readiness and GoggFit set it apart from comparably priced trail helmets that treat protection as the only checkbox

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free shipping?

We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.

How much does shipping cost?

For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!

How can I track my order?

When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.  If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
