The Fitting Process

Getting you on the road to Victory is all about making sure you’ve got the right gears that work with your exact measurements — only then will you get the most comfortable and performance-effective ride possible.

With our professional-grade bike fitting process, our team will check out all aspects of your ride to put you in the right seat.

1 We’ll Assess Your Biomechanics

To give you a truly custom fit, we account for the fact that each athlete is unique in their range of motion, functional stability, and fitness level. To reach a balanced, comfortable, athletic, and powerful position, each of these factors must be taken into
consideration.

We accomplish this through our dynamic fitting process that uses positional changes to achieve a posture that uniquely compliments your individual biomechanics.

2 We’ll Review Your Ride In Action

Evaluating your biomechanics while you actively pedal is vital to painting the entire picture of your athletic build in a manner that can’t be achieved through static measurements alone.

By using a pre-fit assessment and photo/video analysis, we’re able to see how your biomechanics change as you engage with the pedals.

3 We’ll Share Our Sage Advice

Every Victory bike fit comes with concrete suggestions for improving the bike’s functionality with your unique athletic range.
This may be any combination of stretching, mobility work, foam rolling, and strengthening exercises.

The overarching aim of our bike fit is to put each athlete in a position that maximizes efficiency, comfort, and power.

Key Measurements

We’re not reinventing the wheel, but everything else is up for grabs.

Frame Size

Your height + your leg inseam length = your ideal frame size.

During your Victory Bicycle Studio bike fitting, we’ll take the proper measurements to adjust your bike to your exact proportions, helping you to reach the handlebars and pedals with the best ergonomic riding position.

Saddle Height

The saddle is everything. Set it too high and it can decrease your power and increase your risk of injury. Set it too low and you’ll get the same result. We’ll adjust the seat to that perfect Goldilocks height, so you outperform yourself every time.

Saddle Angle

The tilt of the saddle is just as important as the height. We adjust the seat to support your sit bones without causing pressure points, giving you the optimal angle to reach the handlebars and balance over the pedals.

Handlebars

It’s all about the height, reach, and width. Adjustments here can give you more optimal upper body comfort and control without neck or back strain — and when you’re on a long ride, you’ll thank us for that one.

Pedals

Every bike fit has gotta address the pedals. If you’re using clipless pedals, we’ll align your cleat positioning to guide the knee over the foot in one smooth line to reduce your risk of knee pain and improve your performance.

Work With the Best

Work With the Best

Our Fitter, Sean Vandergriff, has trained under the direction of Joseph Bolton, one of the few fitters in the world who holds the distinctions of Retul Certified Master Fitter and Body Geometry Fit Certified Master Fitter.

By choosing the Victory Fit, you’re receiving a professional fitting that cannot be matched in depth, detail, and experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I get fitted?

You should get fitted pretty much every time you change something significant about your ride. This could mean you got a new bike or it could mean you’ve changed your cycling goals — either way, we recommend coming to see us.

Can bike fitting prevent injuries?

Absolutely. A good fit can work wonders for your biomechanics and reduce the risk of cycling-related injuries or joint and muscle strains as a result.

Do I need a bike fit if I’m not a professional cyclist?

Hell yeah! Everybody should experience the comfort and performance of a custom bike fit, not just the pros. When your bike fits like a glove, you’ll enjoy a safer, smoother ride every time.

What should I bring to a bike fitting session?

Pretend you’re going out for a ride — cycling shoes, kit, and all — and we’ll meet you at the Studio. Oh yeah, and bring the bike, too.
