About The Black Inc Zero 3.0 Carbon Rear Aero Time Trial Disc Bike Wheel
The Black Inc ZERO 3.0 Rear Disc Wheel is a full carbon disc wheel for disc-brake time trial and triathlon bikes. It fits a 12mm thru-axle, 142mm rear spacing and uses a Center Lock rotor mount. It weighs 1180g (not counting tubeless tape and some metal parts). Black Inc made the ZERO 3.0 lighter than earlier versions by switching to Textreme carbon fiber while keeping the same hub. The goal is a disc that saves weight without losing strength.
Each wheel is handmade, with up to 180 hours of work per disc from layup through quality control. The rim is shaped for 25mm tires and runs tubeless or with inner tubes. Black Inc reports better lateral dish deviation with high-volume tubeless tires. The hub uses Black Inc + CeramicSpeed bearings and a 24-tooth ratchet freehub, built around a SRAM XDR driver.
Who It’s For
-
Triathletes and time trialists on disc-brake TT or tri frames with 142mm thru-axle rear spacing
-
Riders on SRAM AXS road drivetrains who need an XDR-compatible disc
-
Riders who want tubeless capability in a rear disc
-
Consider a different wheel if your bike uses rim brakes or quick-release axles, if you run Shimano or Campagnolo cassettes, or if you plan to run tires narrower than 25mm
What to Look For
-
Drivetrain clearance: Medium- or long-cage rear derailleurs paired with cassettes larger than 32T may hit the drive side of the disc. Confirm your setup before ordering. We can check this during a fit or build.
-
Tire choice: 25mm is both the recommended and the minimum tire size. Plan your tire around that width.
-
Frame and rules fit: Confirm axle standard, rotor mount, and any event or course rules about disc wheels before you buy.
Key Features
Textreme carbon construction is the main update. Black Inc says Textreme, made mostly of T-1100 fibers, allows a lighter disc layup than earlier ZERO versions with the same strength. For a rear disc, saving weight without losing stiffness matters because the wheel carries drivetrain load on every pedal stroke.
A 21mm internal / 30mm external rim is sized for 25mm tires. That gives a predictable tire shape and supports tubeless or clincher setups. Tubeless valves, tape, valve extensions, and a valve core tool are all included, so setup doesn’t require extra purchases.
The hub is carried over from previous ZERO models. It uses Black Inc + CeramicSpeed bearings, an aluminum body, and a 24-tooth ratchet freehub. The Center Lock interface and 12mm thru-axle match current disc-brake TT frames.
The rim is ASTM Level 1 rated, meaning it’s classified for paved-road riding. It has a UD marble gloss clearcoat and water-transfer decals, and Textreme’s outer weave pattern gives the wheel a different look from earlier versions.
Rider Intent Summary
-
Biggest strengths: Lighter Textreme layup, a tubeless-ready 25mm-optimized rim, and CeramicSpeed-equipped hub internals
-
Tradeoffs: SRAM XDR only, possible clearance limits with larger cassettes, and road/TT use only
-
What makes it different: Hand-built with up to 180 hours of work per disc, using Textreme carbon on a proven hub
Victory’s Take
At Victory Bicycle Studio, we see the ZERO 3.0 as a well-made rear disc for SRAM-equipped TT and tri riders who want a tubeless setup. We’d confirm cassette and derailleur clearance at fitting before the wheel goes on the bike.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.
