About The ENVE SES 4.5 Carbon Tubeless Rear Bike Wheel
The ENVE SES 4.5 Carbon Tubeless Rear Wheel is a 56mm-deep, 700c rear wheel built for road and all-road riders who want aero performance without giving up tire volume. ENVE originally developed the SES 4.5 shape for the cobbles and crosswinds of Paris-Roubaix, making it the first aero rim designed specifically to pair deep-section speed with high-volume tires. This redesign carries that same approach forward in a lighter package.
The rim measures 25mm internal and 32mm external width, sized around tubeless tires starting at 27mm and rated to a maximum of 80 psi (5.5 bar) at that minimum width. It is built as a 24-hole, Centerlock disc-brake wheel with ENVE’s InnerDrive Premium straight-pull hub and 12x142 thru-axle rear spacing, with tubeless tape sized at 29mm to match the rim bed.
Who It’s For
• Road and all-road riders who want a 56mm-deep aero wheel that still clears wide, high-volume tubeless tires
• Riders building or upgrading a disc-brake bike with 12x142 thru-axle spacing and Centerlock rotors
• Riders running tubeless tires 27mm or wider who want a rim width matched to that range
• Riders on rim-brake or quick-release frames should look elsewhere — this wheel is disc-brake and thru-axle specific
What to Look For
• Brake and hub compatibility: requires disc brakes with Centerlock rotors (lockrings sold separately) and a 12x142 thru-axle rear end
• Tire width and pressure: minimum labeled tire size is 27mm, with a maximum pressure of 80 psi (5.5 bar) at that width — check this against your tire and pressure preferences
• Wheel pairing: this listing is for the rear wheel only; pair it with a matching SES 4.5 front wheel for a complete set
Key Features
Rim and aero profile: the 56mm-deep rim carries a 25mm internal / 32mm external width, an aero-optimized shape originally engineered for the cobbles and crosswinds of Paris-Roubaix. That width-to-depth relationship is what allows the wheel to run high-volume tubeless tires while holding aero performance at speed.
Hub: ENVE’s InnerDrive Premium straight-pull hub anchors the build on the rear end, paired with a 24-hole spoke count and 12x142 thru-axle spacing.
Brake system: Centerlock disc brake mount (lockrings not included), so riders need to supply their own Centerlock lockring or adapter for their rotor setup.
Tubeless tire system: the rim is tubeless-ready with a specified 29mm tape width, built around a minimum 27mm tire and rated to 80 psi (5.5 bar) at that width — numbers worth checking against your tire choice and riding pressure.
Rider Intent Summary
• Biggest strength: 56mm aero depth combined with tubeless tire compatibility starting at 27mm
• Tradeoff: disc-brake, Centerlock, 12x142-specific — not compatible with rim-brake or quick-release setups, and Centerlock lockrings aren’t included
• What makes it different: originally developed for Paris-Roubaix’s rough-road demands, now redesigned to be lighter while keeping the same aero-plus-volume approach
Victory’s Take
At Victory Bicycle Studio, we see the SES 4.5 as a rear wheel for riders who want one wheel to handle smooth tarmac and rough pavement without changing setups. Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.
