About The SRAM Apex 11-Speed Long Cage Black Rear Derailleur
The SRAM Apex 11-speed long cage is a mechanical road rear derailleur for cassettes up to 42t. It shares the compatibility of SRAM's higher-tier 11-speed road derailleurs at a lower tier, with an aluminum cage and parallelogram.
It uses SRAM Exact Actuation, the 11-speed road cable pull, so it pairs with SRAM 11-speed DoubleTap shifters. A 32t chain wrap capacity and 42t maximum cog suit 1x road and gravel setups with wide cassettes.
Who It's For
- Riders replacing a worn or damaged Apex 11-speed derailleur.
- Gravel and commuter builds running SRAM 11-speed road shifters with a wide-range cassette.
- Consider a different derailleur if your shifter is 12-speed, or if you want a clutch: none is listed on this model.
What to Look For
- Shifter pull: SRAM Exact Actuation, 11-speed road. Not compatible with Shimano or 12-speed SRAM shifters.
- Gear range: 42t largest cog and 32t chain wrap. Check your front and rear spread against that capacity.
- Mount: Standard 10x1 hanger mount.
Key Features
Aluminum cage and parallelogram. Alloy construction keeps the derailleur serviceable and durable at this tier. Listed weight is 300 g.
Sealed cartridge-bearing pulleys. The pulleys run on sealed bearings rather than bushings, which helps them stay smooth longer in wet and dirty conditions.
Long cage. The long cage reaches a 42t cog, the reason most riders choose this version over a short-cage road derailleur.
Rider Intent Summary
- Biggest strengths: Shares SRAM 11-speed road compatibility; reaches a 42t cog.
- Tradeoffs: No clutch listed; 300 g is heavier than higher tiers.
- What makes it different: An affordable way to keep an 11-speed SRAM road group running with a wide cassette.
Victory's Take
We stock the Apex long cage mostly as a replacement part for 11-speed SRAM road and gravel bikes. Victory Bicycle Studio can check your cassette and chainring spread against its 32t capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order. If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
