About The Trek Quantum Fitness Bike Shorts
The Trek Quantum Fitness Bike Short is a men's semi-fitted cycling short built for warm-weather fitness rides and versatile everyday wear. The outer shell — 86% recycled polyester / 14% spandex — uses two-way stretch construction and an antimicrobial treatment, moving with your pedal stroke without binding or restricting. This is not a race-cut road short; it's engineered for riders who want performance-oriented features in a cut that transitions naturally off the bike.
The removable chamois is lightweight and moisture-wicking, designed for breathability in temperatures from 60°F to 95°F (16°C–35°C). A wide waistband with bungee drawcord allows fast, precise fit adjustment, while a vented leg opening flexes with the pedal stroke rather than fighting it. Built with recycled content, this short saves the equivalent of 17 PET plastic water bottles — a meaningful detail for riders who factor sustainability into their gear decisions.
Who It's For
- Fitness and recreational cyclists who want a single short that works on and off the bike
- Riders who prefer a semi-fitted cut over aggressive race compression
- Warm-season cyclists (spring through summer) logging training rides or mixed-terrain fitness miles
- Riders who value removable chamois design for easier washing and occasional casual wear
- Cyclists who factor sustainable materials into their purchasing decisions
Consider a different short if you're racing or accumulating high-mileage road volume — a close-cut chamois short will serve you better there.
What to Look For
- Chamois fit and removability: The chamois is removable, which affects care, layering, and whether chamois cream is part of your routine. Confirm the thickness and padding placement work for your saddle setup and typical ride duration before committing.
- Fit profile vs. riding style: Semi-fitted sits between a casual boardshort and a race short — the right call for fitness riding, but not ideal for long-distance road efforts where a tighter fit reduces friction at the interface.
- Temperature range: Rated 60°F–95°F (16°C–35°C). This is a warm-season short — not suited for early-spring cold or sustained high-output efforts in cooler conditions.
Key Features
The two-way stretch outer shell (86% recycled polyester / 14% spandex) is woven with an antimicrobial treatment and moves comfortably through the full pedal stroke. The semi-fitted cut follows the body without compressing — practical for riders who don't want the look or feel of a traditional road short.
The removable chamois is lightweight and designed for moisture management and breathability, not maximum padding. It's the right spec for fitness rides; riders logging 3+ hour days may want something denser. Removability simplifies washing and lets the short double as casual wear.
The wide waistband with bungee drawcord gives riders quick, on-the-fly fit control — useful during transitions or when wearing the short beyond a single-ride context. A zippered side pocket provides secure storage for a key, card, or essentials. The vented leg opening is designed to flex with pedal rotation rather than restrict it.
Liner construction is differentiated by panel: front and back panels are 74% recycled nylon / 26% spandex; side panels are 77% recycled nylon / 23% spandex. The recycled-content shell diverts material equivalent to 17 PET plastic water bottles per unit.
Rider Intent Summary
- Biggest strengths: Semi-fitted versatility, removable chamois, warm-weather breathability, recycled-content construction
- Tradeoffs: Chamois is not optimized for high-mileage or long-duration road efforts; semi-fitted cut is not for riders who want race compression
- What makes it different: The combination of a removable chamois, bungee drawcord waistband, and fully recycled-content materials makes this a crossover short purpose-built for fitness cycling — not repurposed from a road or trail design

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.
