About The Trek Velocis Mips Road Bike Helmet

The Trek Velocis Mips is Trek's lightest road helmet, developed with direct input from the Lidl-Trek professional team to reduce weight and improve ventilation across every size. At 240g in a size small, it sits at the performance end of the road helmet category — built for riders who treat weight savings and heat management as meaningful advantages on long climbs and hot days.

What separates the updated Velocis from its predecessor is a refined airflow channel system that accelerates ventilation across the head, benefiting both comfort and sustained effort in warm conditions. The integrated Mips Air safety system provides rotational force protection without the bulk of traditional Mips liner inserts, keeping the helmet slim and compliant while maintaining a full protection profile.

Who It's For

  • Competitive road cyclists who prioritize low weight, effective ventilation, and a precise, adjustable fit
  • Riders logging significant climbing or riding in consistently warm conditions where heat management matters
  • Athletes who want pro-team-developed design without the premium of a race-exclusive product
  • Cyclists who appreciate ownership guarantees — Trek's Crash Replacement and 30-day return policies lower the purchase risk

Consider a different helmet if you primarily need aerodynamic optimization for flat or time-trial riding, where a dedicated aero lid will outperform this ventilation-forward design.

What to Look For

  • Fit and sizing: The BOA® system allows fine-tuning, but start with the right size — measure head circumference and match to S (51–57cm), M (54–60cm), or L (58–63cm) before adjusting
  • Ventilation vs. aerodynamics: The Velocis prioritizes airflow over aero; if your riding is primarily flat or criterium-focused, weigh that tradeoff against a more aerodynamically optimized option
  • Mips integration style: The Mips Air system differs from traditional slip-liner designs — it integrates into the padding architecture, which affects fit feel and overall weight compared to standard Mips implementations

Key Features

Mips Air System: Rather than a separate slip-plane liner, the Mips Air system integrates rotational protection directly into the helmet's strap and pad architecture. This keeps the total weight lower than traditional Mips implementations while maintaining compliance with rotational force management standards.

BOA® Fit System: A single-lace BOA dial at the rear provides 360-degree micro-adjustable retention. Riders can tune fit on the fly without removing gloves — useful during cool-to-warm transitions or when layering a cap underneath. Moisture-wicking pads at contact points manage sweat during extended efforts.

Ventilation Design: Updated channel geometry, refined through Lidl-Trek feedback, moves air more efficiently than the previous generation. The 260g medium achieves this without sacrificing structural integrity, and the sizing range covers heads from 51cm to 63cm.

Sunglasses Storage: A rubberized docking port at the helmet's front secures sunglass arms with a stable, non-slip grip — a practical detail when stowing lenses during descents or changing light conditions.

Ownership Coverage: Includes Trek's Crash Replacement Guarantee (one free replacement within the first year after a crash) and a 30-day unconditional return window. Ships with a travel bag. Complies with U.S. CPSC safety standards.

Rider Intent Summary

  • Biggest strengths: Pro-team-validated weight reduction (240–285g across sizes), effective ventilation channel design, and Mips Air integration that adds protection without traditional liner bulk
  • Tradeoffs: Not optimized for aerodynamics; riders prioritizing flat-course speed or triathlon should evaluate aero-specific alternatives
  • What makes it different: The Mips Air system's integration into the fit architecture keeps weight lower than most Mips-equipped road helmets at this performance tier, and the Lidl-Trek development input provides real-world validation at the highest level

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free shipping?

We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.

How much does shipping cost?

For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!

How can I track my order?

When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.  If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
