Every journey has a starting point. Begin your cycling journey this summer with our Couch-to-50-mile training group. Maybe you are new to the sport. Maybe you have ridden before but your bike has been collecting dust for years. Couch-to-50 offers a weekly group ride every Sunday from June thru September. We’ll meet at Purlieu, our event center in Shelby Forest, and ride with other cyclists––at your level. Along the way, you’ll get specialized training and tips from elite-level athletes so you can get better fast and shift your performance to the next gear.
For more experienced cyclists, we will offer a new and improved version of our long distance training group. The Endurance Group is a weekly opportunity to train with friends, build consistency and increase your endurance on some of the best terrain in Shelby County.
You’ll start at 5 miles on the first day and progressively, methodically climb to 50 miles by the end of the summer. And you will have a blast in the process.
BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP: On the first day, you’ll learn the basics: loading and unloading your bike without damaging either, proper tire inflation––and safely and efficiently climbing into the saddle and clipping into your pedals.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS: You’ll quickly move on to skills that will organically transform you into a more experienced cyclist.
BUILDING COMMUNITY: We’ve designed the Couch-to-50-Mile program to build community both on the road and off. We’ll connect you with other riders and train you to ride in “pelotons” — or groups of cyclists.

This summer, we’re shaking things up based on YOUR feedback. Instead of progressively building mileage, we’re focusing on what this group does best –consistency and camaraderie.
EVERY SUNDAY: A 45-55 mile ride, led by a dedicated coach/ride leader
PACE CONTROLLED (18-20MPH AVG) with a structured communication and group ride skills focus.
NEW ROUTE EACH WEEK, allowing you to master the varying terrain, build confidence, and enjoy the flow
START & FINISH AT PURLIEU, making every ride a social and supportive experience.

The total cost for the program is $299. Here’s what all you will receive for that price:
Most importantly, you’re gonna have fun, get better, and find a tribe–or peloton–of riders just like you who also want to crush their cycling goals while enjoying everything the Memphis cycling community has to offer.
INFO NIGHTS: We offer two thorough information nights at Victory Bicycle Studio. You’ll hear past participants speak about their experiences, get great advice from our coaches, and get all the details you need from Clark about the training program as a whole and the Big Dam Bridge Ride in September.
WEEKLY TRAINING RIDES: We will start and finish at Purlieu in beautiful Shelby Forest featuring beautiful landscapes, rolling hills and minimal traffic. Start times will vary thru the summer.
CLINIC NIGHTS: These clinics are included in your program fee and give you the opportunity to visit our store, build community with your fellow riders, and get expert advice on topics essential to getting your training off on the right cadence.
Our expert clinics are super laid back. We won’t be spinning any bikes or practicing any techniques, so just dress casually and come ready to enjoy some drinks, hear some expert advice, and hang out with your training partners — out of the saddle.
BIG DAM BRIDGE RIDE: Stick with the program and you’ll have the chance to celebrate all the hard work and hours you’ve put into training with this 50-mile ride (for the Couch-to-50 group) and a 75 or 100-mile ride (for the Endurance Group).
