About The Berd P62 Carbon Aero Bicycle Wheelset
The Berd P62 is a carbon aero wheelset built around the HED Vanquish V62 rim — a 62mm-deep, aerodynamically optimized profile handcrafted in Minnesota — paired with Berd's Talon Road hubs and PolyLight spokes. It's built for road and gravel racing and riding, with a tire range of 23mm to 50mm at pressures up to 75 psi, so one wheelset covers pavement and mixed terrain. At 1,534 grams for the set, it's light for a wheel this deep.
The distinguishing piece is the spoke system. Berd's PolyLight spokes are woven from synthetic fiber rather than steel or carbon, and the Talon hub's flanges are hooked specifically to work with them — a combination designed to damp vibration through a deep-section rim that would otherwise ride harsh. The hub itself uses a dual-sprung 36-tooth ratchet mechanism built for fast engagement when you put power down.
Who It's For
• Road racers and fast group riders who want a 62mm aero wheel without a heavy weight penalty (1,534g wheelset)
• Gravel racers who want one wheel that runs road tires and steps up to a 50mm gravel tire
• Riders who want a tubeless-ready setup (tape and valves pre-installed) without the harsh ride typical of deep carbon rims
• Not for e-bike use — the P62 is not e-bike approved
• Riders over 240 lbs / 109 kg should look elsewhere; that's the manufacturer's stated weight limit
What to Look For
• Freehub body: confirm your drivetrain matches before ordering — options are SRAM XDR, Shimano Microspline, or Shimano 11-speed
• Axle and brake compatibility: 12x100mm front / 12x142mm rear thru-axle only, with Centerlock disc brakes — no quick-release or rim-brake frames
• Tire width for your terrain: the 23–50mm range spans road to gravel, but max pressure is rated at 75 psi specifically for a 25mm tire
Key Features
The HED Vanquish V62 rim is a 62mm-deep carbon profile built for aerodynamics, with a 22.4mm internal and 31.2mm external width and a hooked, tubeless-compatible bead. Spoke holes are angle-matched and drilled 24 front and rear, which keeps spoke tension and bracing angle consistent across the wheel.
The Berd Talon Road hub (2025) uses hooked flanges designed specifically for Berd's PolyLight spokes, paired with a dual-sprung 36-tooth ratchet freehub for quick engagement. It's available with an aluminum freehub body in SRAM XDR, Shimano Microspline, or Shimano 11-speed.
Braking is Centerlock disc only — there's no rim-brake or 6-bolt option on this wheelset, so confirm your frame and rotors match before buying.
Tire compatibility runs 23mm to 50mm, with rim tape and valves already installed for tubeless setup. Maximum pressure is 75 psi at a 25mm tire width.
The Berd PolyLight spokes are the wheelset's signature feature: a synthetic-fiber spoke laced two-cross front and rear with Sapim aluminum double square secure-lock nipples. Their vibration-damping properties are what let a 62mm-deep aero rim ride smoother than deep carbon sections typically do.
Rider Intent Summary
• Biggest strengths: 1,534g for a 62mm aero wheelset, a wide 23–50mm tire range, and PolyLight spokes that damp vibration most deep-section wheels transmit
• Tradeoffs: thru-axle and Centerlock disc only (no rim brake or quick-release), not e-bike approved, 240 lb rider weight limit
• What makes it different: Berd's synthetic PolyLight spokes and hub flanges built specifically for them, combined with the HED Vanquish V62 aero rim platform
Victory's Take
We like the P62 for riders who want one aero wheelset that handles road racing one day and gravel the next without swapping wheels. At Victory Bicycle Studio, the PolyLight spoke system is the reason we'd point a rider toward this build over a conventional deep-section carbon wheel.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.
