About The Oakley Velo Kato Prizm Cycling Sunglasses
The Oakley Velo Kato Prizm cycling sunglasses take a frameless, shield-lens approach built for road riders who want an unobstructed field of view without giving up protection. The lens is shaped using PhysioMorphic™ Geometry, an optical design method that lets the lens sit close to the face while extending its wrap and adding rigidity in key areas — effectively letting the lens itself do the structural work a traditional frame would do. Combined with an O Matter™ frame and a no-hinge construction, the result is a large, uninterrupted shield that maximizes coverage and airflow at speed.
Fit is handled through two dedicated points of contact rather than a one-size frame: Unobtainium® nosepads, available in two thickness and depth options, and Unobtainium® earsocks for no-slip grip. The lens itself uses Prizm™ lens technology (Prizm Road is the typical cycling lens for this model) to enhance color and contrast, carries 100% UV protection up to 400nm, and is impact-tested to Oakley's standards. For riders building a full aero setup, the Velo Kato is also designed to integrate with the Oakley Aero helmet.
Who It's For
-
Road riders who prioritize peripheral field of view and airflow over a traditional two-lens frame
-
Riders already running, or planning to run, the Oakley Aero helmet, since the Velo Kato is designed to pair with it
-
Anyone who wants a dialed-in nose fit — the two included nosepad options give some room to adjust for narrower or wider bridges
-
Riders who prefer a swappable-lens system with multiple tint options should look elsewhere in Oakley's line, since this spec sheet lists a single Prizm Road lens
What to Look For
-
Fit: this is a wide/universal, one-size design (Oakley lists it as a size M) — try it on before committing if you have a narrower face shape
-
Lens tint: confirm Prizm Road is the right lens for your typical light conditions before you buy, since that's the lens this model ships with
-
Helmet pairing: if a matched helmet-and-eyewear look and fit matters to you, factor in the Oakley Aero helmet compatibility
Key Features
Frame and lens construction: The frameless, large shield-style lens uses PhysioMorphic Geometry and O Matter material to hold its shape without a hinge system, which is what allows for the wider field of view and cleaner airflow across the face.
No-hinge system: Removing the hinge is a fit and protection decision as much as a design one — it lets the lens maximize coverage and keeps airflow moving instead of interrupting it at the temple.
Fit system: Two Unobtainium nosepad options plus Unobtainium earsocks are the adjustable elements on an otherwise one-size frame, so riders can tune the fit rather than relying on frame size alone.
Lens performance: Prizm lens technology adds contrast and color enhancement, paired with 100% UV protection to 400nm and Oakley's impact testing for on-bike durability and eye protection.
Rider Intent Summary
-
Biggest strengths: wide field of view from a hinge-free shield lens, adjustable nosepad fit, UV400/impact-tested Prizm Road lens
-
Tradeoffs: one size fits all (M) with no alternate frame sizes, and no lens-swap options are listed for this model
-
What makes it different: PhysioMorphic Geometry construction plus direct compatibility with the Oakley Aero helmet
Victory's Take
At Victory Bicycle Studio, we point riders to the two nosepad options first — that's the real fit adjustment on a one-size frame, and it's worth dialing in before your first ride. If you're already in an Oakley Aero helmet, this is the lens built to go with it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order. If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
