About The Speedplay Standard Tension Cycling Cleats
The Speedplay Standard Tension cleat is a road-specific clipless cleat system built around continuous 3-axis adjustability — independent tuning of release angle, pedal float, and cleat position. Riders get micro-adjustable release from 0° to 7.5°, float from 0° to 15°, up to 13mm of fore-aft movement, and up to 6mm of left-right adjustment, all without swapping parts. That range of independent adjustment is what sets it apart from cleat systems that fix one or more of those variables.
Built for everything from steep climbs to full-gas racing, the cleat is engineered from Grivory GV-6H composite, TPU, and metal wear surfaces to hold up under repeated hard efforts while keeping engagement precise. A walkable cleat adaptor is included, so riders aren’t stuck clip-walking across parking lots or coffee stops. The tradeoff: this is a road-only system — clean, debris-free conditions keep the mechanism working as designed.
Who It’s For
• Road riders who want a cleat fit tuned to their body, not the other way around
• Riders managing knee, hip, or foot alignment issues who need fine release-angle and float control
• Climbers and racers who want secure, predictable pedal engagement under hard efforts
• Riders who want to walk normally off the bike (walkable adaptor included)
• Not a fit for gravel or off-road riders — Speedplay pedals and cleats are built for road use only, and debris exposure can damage the mechanism
What to Look For
• Cleat pattern and weight: 3-hole cleats weigh 142g with an 11.5mm stack height; 4-hole cleats weigh 100g with a lower 8.5mm stack height — confirm which bolt pattern your shoes use
• Pedal compatibility: this cleat is designed for use with Speedplay pedals; verify your existing pedal system before buying
• Maintenance habits: precise engagement depends on clean cleats — riders who frequently ride wet, muddy, or off-road routes should look at a different system
Key Features
Body construction: Grivory GV-6H composite, TPU, and metal wear parts give the cleat a durable, low-friction interface built to survive repeated clip-in/clip-out cycles across long seasons of road riding.
Adjustability: release angle is micro-adjustable from 0° to 7.5°, and float runs from 0° to 15°, letting a fitter tune how much rotational give the foot has before releasing. Combined with up to 13mm of fore-aft and 6mm of left-right cleat positioning, this covers more fit variables in one system than most road cleats adjust independently — useful for riders correcting knee tracking or optimizing power transfer position.
Stack height: at 11.5mm (3-hole) or 8.5mm (4-hole), stack height stays low, keeping the foot closer to the pedal axle and preserving the rider’s effective saddle height and leg extension after a bike fit.
Walkability: a walkable cleat adaptor is included, covering the exposed metal engagement mechanism for normal walking off the bike.
Rider Intent Summary
• Biggest strength: independent control over release angle, float, and cleat position in one system
• Tradeoff: road-only design that requires clean conditions to perform reliably
• What makes it different: continuous 3-axis adjustability rather than fixed or stepped settings
Victory’s Take
We recommend the Speedplay Standard Tension cleat to riders working through a professional bike fit at Victory Bicycle Studio who need adjustment beyond what standard cleats allow — the range of float and angle control makes it easier for our fitters to dial in alignment precisely.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order. If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
