About The Syncros Capital 1.0s Carbon 40 Bicycle Wheelset
SYNCROS Capital 1.0s 40 Carbon Wheelset is a 1,335g, hookless, tubeless-ready 700c wheelset for road and gravel. It pairs a 40mm-deep carbon rim with a 25mm internal width with DT Swiss 240s hubs. Syncros sells it as a lighter-priced alternative to the Capital SL, and it uses the same lightweight carbon rim. Riders who want one wheelset for fast road miles and mixed-surface gravel can run tires from 29mm to 50mm on it.
The 25mm internal width gives wider tires a stable, well-supported shape at lower pressures, and the 40mm aero-optimized rim depth suits road speed without committing to a deep-section wheel. The rims are laced with DT Swiss Aerolite spokes and Pro Lock nipples, 24 holes front and rear. Tubeless valves and Syncros rim tape come in the box, so the wheels are ready for a tubeless setup.
Who It's For
-
Road riders moving to wider tires (29–35mm) who want a lighter carbon wheelset
-
Gravel riders running tires up to 50mm who want one wheelset for pavement and dirt
-
Riders upgrading from stock alloy wheels on a modern 12mm thru-axle disc bike
-
Consider a different wheelset if: you and your bike weigh more than 120kg combined, you run tires narrower than 29mm, or you want to keep using hooked-bead-only tires
What to Look For
-
Freehub and rotor fit: These wheels use a Shimano HG freehub and Centerlock rotor mounts. Make sure your cassette and rotors match before ordering.
-
Tire choice: The rim is hookless, so use tires approved for hookless rims and stay within 20–72.5 PSI (1.4–5.0 bar).
-
Intended use: Decide which tire range you'll actually ride. The 29–50mm window covers road through mid-volume gravel, and that's where this wheelset works best.
Key Features
Carbon rim, 40mm deep, 25mm internal. The rim is aero-optimized and wide enough to properly support high-volume tires. A wider internal width helps a tire hold its shape at lower pressures, which matters for grip and comfort on rough roads and gravel.
Hookless, tubeless-ready construction. The hookless bead design is built for tubeless setups. The 72.5 PSI maximum is a firm limit, so riders used to high road pressures will need to adjust. On wider tires, lower pressures are usually the right call anyway.
DT Swiss 240s hubs. Both hubs are 240s models with Centerlock rotor mounts: 100x12mm front and 142x12mm rear thru-axle spacing, with a Shimano HG freehub. The 240 is a well-regarded hub, and it's a big part of why this wheelset stands out from others in its weight class.
DT Swiss spokes and nipples. Aerolite bladed spokes and Pro Lock nipples complete the build, so the hubs, spokes and nipples all come from DT Swiss.
Weight and details. The wheelset weighs 1,335g and has laser-etched graphics. It comes with 60mm tubeless valves and Syncros rim tape installed for setup.
Rider Intent Summary
-
Biggest strengths: Low weight (1,335g), DT Swiss 240s hubs, and a 25mm-wide rim that covers 29–50mm tires
-
Tradeoffs: Hookless rims limit tire choice and cap pressure at 72.5 PSI. The Shimano HG freehub and Centerlock rotor mounts need matching parts. System weight limit is 120kg.
-
What makes it different: You get the Capital SL's carbon rim on DT Swiss 240s hubs, in a lighter-priced package that covers road and gravel
Victory's Take
At Victory Bicycle Studio, we see the Capital 1.0s 40 as a sensible upgrade for riders who've moved to wider tires and want one carbon wheelset for road and gravel. Check your freehub, rotors and tires first, and it should need little attention after that.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.
