About The Trek Solstice Youth Jersey

The Trek Solstice Youth Jersey is a cycling-specific short-sleeve jersey built for young riders in warm conditions, rated for 70–90°F. Constructed from 100% recycled polyester with STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification, it delivers genuine moisture-wicking performance rather than the cotton-based alternatives that saturate and cling mid-ride.

Where youth apparel often compromises on cycling function, the Solstice holds its own with features borrowed from adult performance kits: three open-back pockets, a silicone-gripped drop tail, and a full-length YKK zipper. The semi-fitted cut gives young riders room to move without the excess fabric that bunches under a harness or catches crosswind on longer rides.

Who It's For

  • Young riders (unisex) ready to move up from casual athletic wear to cycling-specific kit
  • Riders logging longer miles in warm weather where moisture management and UV protection matter
  • Parents seeking jersey-level functionality — back pockets, drop tail, proper fit — at a youth size
  • Not the pick for temperatures below 70°F — this is a warm-weather-only jersey with no thermal properties

What to Look For

  • Fit: Semi-fitted follows body contours without being snug. If your rider prefers relaxed athletic wear, consider sizing up; between sizes, size down for cycling-specific performance.
  • Temperature range: Designed for 70–90°F riding. For cooler mornings, pair with arm warmers or a base layer — the jersey itself provides no insulation.
  • Intended use: Best suited for road, gravel, or trail riding where the rider will be in a forward cycling position. The drop tail and silicone gripper are specifically engineered for that posture.

Key Features

Moisture management and UV protection. The 100% recycled polyester knit pulls sweat away from the skin throughout a ride. The UV 50+ rating adds meaningful sun protection for extended days outdoors — relevant for youth riders who often spend more time in the saddle than they plan to.

Drop-tail design with silicone gripper. This is the detail that separates a cycling jersey from an athletic shirt. When a rider bends forward into the riding position, a standard hem rides up and exposes the lower back. The Solstice's drop tail stays put, held in place by a silicone gripper strip, without requiring mid-ride adjustment.

Three open-back pockets. Standard on adult jerseys, genuinely uncommon at the youth level. Three pockets provide room for a snack, phone, or small tool without requiring a pack on shorter rides — a meaningful step up in independence for young riders.

Full-length YKK zipper. Full-zip construction lets riders vent on climbs or layer up on descents. YKK is the industry benchmark for zipper reliability; it won't snag at inopportune moments.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification. Every component has been tested against a comprehensive list of harmful substances. For youth apparel worn against the skin during physical exertion, this certification is worth noting.

Rider Intent Summary

  • Biggest strengths: Cycling-specific design details (drop tail, back pockets, full-length zipper) executed at youth sizing; OEKO-TEX® certified recycled construction; UV 50+ protection
  • Tradeoffs: Narrow temperature window (70–90°F); semi-fitted cut won't appeal to riders who strongly prefer relaxed fit
  • What makes it different: Most youth athletic tops strip out cycling-specific design features entirely — the Solstice doesn't

Victory's Take

At Victory Bicycle Studio, the transition from casual kit to a first real jersey is one we see often — the Solstice is a natural starting point. It brings the functional details that matter on actual rides without overcorrecting into a race cut that feels restrictive on a rider still settling into their position.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free shipping?

We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.

How much does shipping cost?

For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!

How can I track my order?

When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.  If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
