About The Wahoo Elemnt Roam 3 GPS Bike Computer

The Wahoo Elemnt Roam 3 is a GPS bike computer built around navigation, not just data logging. Its 2.8-inch color touchscreen runs on dual-band GPS — pulling in GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU, Galileo, QZSS, SBAS, and NavIC signals — for more reliable positioning under tree cover, in canyons, and around tall buildings than a single-band unit provides. At 3.8 oz and rated for up to 25 hours of battery life on a USB-C charge, it's sized and powered for anything from a commute to a full day of gravel touring without a mid-ride top-off.

What separates the Roam 3 from a basic ride-logging computer is how much of the navigation runs on the device itself. Audible turn-by-turn guidance paired with a glove-friendly touchscreen (tap, pinch, zoom, swipe) means a rider can follow a route without stopping to check a phone, and on-device rerouting features — Back on Track, Route to Start, Retrace Route — recalculate automatically if you go off-course or need to turn around, with no connectivity required.

Who It's For

  • Riders who explore new routes or ride unfamiliar roads regularly and want mapping and audible cues instead of memorized turns
  • Gravel, endurance, and touring riders who need the 25-hour battery to outlast a full day in the saddle
  • Riders already routing through Strava, Komoot, or Ride with GPS who want waypoints and mid-ride route changes to sync to the device
  • Anyone training off structured plans, since the Roam 3 supports imported workouts from outside providers
  • Riders who only ever repeat the same local loop and don't need mapping may be better served by a simpler, screen-only computer

What to Look For

  • Bar diameter: the included out-front mount fits a 31.8 mm bar; a stem mount is included as an alternative, but confirm cockpit clearance either way
  • Route source: custom waypoints, live rerouting, and Komoot Live Sync depend on a Strava, Komoot, or Ride with GPS account (premium tier required for waypoints)
  • Sensor setup: pairing is over ANT+ and Bluetooth, so confirm any power meter, heart rate strap, or radar you already own uses one of those protocols

Key Features

The 2.8-inch high-contrast touchscreen uses adaptive brightness to stay readable in direct sun and low light alike, and the interface is built for on-the-fly control — adjusting data fields or zooming a map mid-ride works the same way it would on a phone screen.

Navigation runs through audible turn-by-turn guidance and detailed map layers, with on-device rerouting (Back on Track, Route to Start, Retrace Route) handling course changes without a data connection. Google and Apple Maps route sharing and Komoot Live Sync let a rider send or change a route mid-ride and have the Roam 3 update automatically.

Dual-band GPS across seven satellite systems is the positioning backbone, and it pairs with WiFi, Bluetooth, and ANT+ for syncing rides, pairing sensors, and controlling music (Spotify, Apple Music), lights, radar, or a GoPro from the head unit.

For structured training, Custom Workout Profiles (Road, Gravel, Indoor, or user-defined) save preferred data fields, sensors, and alerts per activity, and a workout-import API pulls plans from more than one hundred outside training providers.

Rider Intent Summary

  • Biggest strengths: on-device turn-by-turn navigation, 25-hour battery life, and a touchscreen interface that doesn't require a paired phone to operate
  • Tradeoffs: the deepest route-sharing and waypoint features depend on a premium Strava, Komoot, or Ride with GPS subscription
  • What makes it different: automatic on-device rerouting (Back on Track, Route to Start, Retrace Route) works without cellular or WiFi connectivity, unlike navigation that relies on a paired phone

Victory's Take

We spec the Elemnt Roam 3 for riders whose routes change on the fly — gravel explorers and touring riders in particular — because the on-device rerouting and 25-hour battery hold up when a phone-dependent computer would fall back on you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free shipping?

We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.

How much does shipping cost?

For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!

How can I track my order?

When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.  If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
