About The Zipp 303 S Carbon Tubeless Front Bicycle Wheel

The Zipp 303 S is a carbon front wheel built for road riders who want one wheel to handle everything from smooth tarmac to rougher, chip-sealed pavement without swapping equipment. It uses a 45mm-deep, hookless UD carbon rim with a 23mm internal / 27mm external width, a shape carried down from Zipp’s higher-tier 303 Firecrest Tubeless wheels to bring that same terrain versatility to a more accessible build.

The wider rim profile is designed to optimize tire shape at lower tubeless pressures, which lowers rolling resistance and gives a more compliant ride over rough surfaces. Combined with reduced weight and wind resistance versus a traditional narrower rim, the result is a wheel built to reduce rider fatigue over long rides. It’s set up for a Center-Lock disc brake and a 12mm thru x 100mm front axle, and it’s tubeless-ready only — there’s no tube-type clincher compatibility.

Who It's For

Road riders who want a tubeless-only wheel that performs well across varied pavement conditions

Riders upgrading from alloy who want the weight and comfort benefits of a carbon hookless rim

Cyclists on disc-brake bikes with Center-Lock rotors and a 12x100mm thru axle

Not a fit for rim-brake bikes, quick-release front axles, or riders who prefer to run tubes

What to Look For

Confirm your bike takes a Center-Lock disc front wheel with a 12mm thru x 100mm axle — this wheel isn’t compatible with rim brakes or quick-release

This listing is for the front wheel only; pair it with a compatible 303 S rear wheel to complete the set

Because the rim is hookless and tubeless-ready only, plan on running tubeless tires — tube-type clinchers aren’t supported

Key Features

The rim is a UD carbon hookless design at 45mm deep and 27mm wide (23mm internal), the same architecture Zipp uses on its 303 Firecrest Tubeless wheels. That width is what lets the tire hold a rounder profile at lower pressure, which is where the ride quality and rolling resistance gains come from. Because it’s hookless, the rim is built for tubeless tires only — there’s no tube-type clincher option with this wheel.

The hub is a 76D, mounted to a 12mm thru x 100mm front axle for a stiff, secure fit. Braking is handled through a Center-Lock disc interface, so a Center-Lock or Center-Lock-adapter rotor is required. The finish is a smooth matte black, consistent across the 303 S line.

Rider Intent Summary

Biggest strengths: terrain versatility from the 45mm/27mm hookless rim shape, ride comfort at lower tubeless pressures, and reduced weight and wind resistance versus a narrower-profile wheel

Tradeoffs: tubeless tires only (no tube-type clinchers), and it’s sold as a front wheel only — a rear wheel is a separate purchase

What makes it different: it inherits its rim architecture directly from the 303 Firecrest Tubeless wheel, bringing that design down to a more accessible tier

Victory's Take

We like the Zipp 303 S for riders who want Firecrest-level rim geometry without the Firecrest price tag. If you’re already running tubeless and have a Center-Lock, thru-axle setup, this is a straightforward upgrade — just remember to budget for the matching rear wheel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free shipping?

We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.

How much does shipping cost?

For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!

How can I track my order?

When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.  If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
