About The Zipp Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake Rear Disc Carbon Wheel - Shimano Hub - OEM - No Packaging
The Zipp Super-9 Tubeless Disc-Brake rear disc wheel is a full carbon disc for triathlon and time trial bikes, built for 28mm tubeless tires run at lower pressures. It weighs 1050g, which Zipp lists among the lightest disc wheels available. The shape runs wide and parallel from the hub, then curves inward where it meets the hookless tire bed. The goal is a rear wheel that rolls efficiently on real-world pavement as well as being aero.
The design follows Zipp's Total System Efficiency (TSE) approach. Wind resistance, gravity, rolling resistance and vibration losses are treated together, not aerodynamics alone. In practice, the Super-9 is designed for a wider tire at moderate pressure, not a narrow tire pumped hard. Zipp says this gives better handling and cornering, and a disc that is stiffer and more durable than the previous Super-9. A TyreWiz 2.0 pressure sensor is built in, so you can confirm your pressure before the start.
Who It's For
-
Triathletes and time trialists on disc-brake TT or tri bikes who want a full-disc rear wheel for racing
-
Riders already running, or moving to, wider tubeless tires at lower pressures
-
Athletes who want to save energy on the bike for the run
-
Riders pairing it with a current Zipp tubeless front wheel
-
Consider a different wheel if your frame can't fit a 28mm rear tire, if you run rim brakes, or if your total system weight is over 115kg / 253lbs
What to Look For
-
Frame clearance and tire choice: 28mm is both the minimum and the recommended tire size. Check that your frame fits it, and that your tire is approved for hookless rims.
-
Pressure discipline: The maximum is 73psi / 5.0 bar. Riders used to high-pressure race setups will need to rethink their numbers.
-
Drivetrain: It comes with a SRAM/Shimano road driver body. Campagnolo users need a separate driver body.
Key Features
Rim and laminate: The hookless Tubeless Straight Side (TSS) rim has a 23mm internal width and a symmetrical profile. This shape is designed to support a 28mm tire at lower pressure and blend it smoothly into the disc surface. The UD carbon is finished in matte with Impress technology graphics.
Hub and bearings: The ZR1 SL hub uses ceramic cartridge bearings for low drag on race day, and has 66 points of engagement so the freehub picks up quickly when you start pedaling out of corners and turnarounds.
Braking: The Center Lock disc mount fits modern disc-brake TT and tri frames, and the lockring is included.
Tires and inflation: The wheel takes tubeless tires only, though you can fit a tube inside a tubeless tire if needed. The redesigned pump-access port has an integrated cover, so you don't need stickers, and a pumpchuck adapter is included.
TyreWiz 2.0: The 10g pressure sensor is mounted out of sight and balanced inside the disc. It shows whether your tire is within your target PSI/bar range. On a wheel designed around a specific pressure window, that matters.
Ownership: Zipp's Lifetime Warranty covers the wheel, and it ships with a Zipp wheel bag and disc protector for travel.
Rider Intent Summary
-
Biggest strengths: Light 1050g disc, built-in TyreWiz 2.0, ceramic-bearing ZR1 SL hub, and a rim designed for 28mm tubeless tires
-
Tradeoffs: Tubeless tires only, 28mm minimum tire, 73psi pressure cap, and Campagnolo driver sold separately
-
What makes it different: A disc wheel designed from the rim-to-tire interface outward for wider tires at lower pressure, with pressure monitoring built in
Victory's Take
At Victory Bicycle Studio, we think the Super-9 makes the most sense for athletes ready to commit to a 28mm tubeless setup and to setting pressure carefully. We'd also confirm frame clearance during a fit before you race on it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order. If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
