About The ENVE SES 3.4 Carbon Road Rear Bicycle Rim
The ENVE SES 3.4 Carbon Road Rear Bicycle Rim is a disc-brake-only, rear-specific carbon rim built for road racing and high-performance road riding on 700c wheels. At a 43mm rim depth and 378g weight, it is engineered for aerodynamic efficiency without the weight penalty of a deeper-section rim. The 25mm internal and 32mm external width profile is sized for modern tubeless road tires, and the rim is Tubeless Ready with a Presta valve. It's finished in black.
What sets the SES 3.4 apart in ENVE's lineup is that it is built as a dedicated rear rim rather than an interchangeable design. ENVE's SES rims have distinct front and rear shapes, each optimized for its position on the bike, unlike the brand's Foundation rims, which use one rim for both wheels. This rim is sold individually, not as part of a pre-built wheel, with a 571mm ERD and 24-hole drilling for wheel builders working with disc hubs.
Who It's For
• Riders or wheel builders assembling a custom disc-brake road wheelset who want rear-specific aero performance.
• Racers and high-mileage road riders prioritizing low weight (378g) in an aero-depth carbon rim.
• Riders already running tubeless tires, since the rim is Tubeless Ready at a 25mm internal width.
• Not a fit for rim-brake bikes, since this rim is disc-only, or for riders who want a complete, pre-built wheel out of the box.
What to Look For
• Match it with the correct front rim: SES rims are not interchangeable, so pair this rear rim with an ENVE SES 3.4 front rim, not a Foundation rim.
• Confirm hub compatibility: 24-hole drilling needs a hub and spoke count to match.
• Use the 571mm ERD to calculate correct spoke length when building the wheel.
Key Features
Carbon rim construction: A full carbon rim at 378g keeps weight low at a 43mm depth, an aero-oriented profile without the weight of a deeper aero section.
Rear-specific rim design: Built as a dedicated rear rim rather than a symmetric, interchangeable shape, letting ENVE tune the profile for the rear wheel's distinct airflow position.
Disc-only brake compatibility: Designed exclusively for disc-brake wheelsets, with no rim-brake version.
Tubeless-ready, wide-profile design: A 25mm internal and 32mm external width is built around modern, wider tubeless road tires, supporting a Tubeless Ready system with a Presta valve.
Build specs for wheel builders: A 571mm ERD and 24-hole drilling give wheel builders the numbers needed for spoke length and hub selection when lacing this rim into a complete wheel.
Rider Intent Summary
• Biggest strength: rear-specific aero shaping at a low 378g weight, in a disc-only, Tubeless Ready design.
• Tradeoff: sold as a single rim only, requiring a matching front rim, hub, spokes, and a wheel build to complete.
• What makes it different: unlike ENVE's Foundation rims, the SES 3.4 is engineered specifically for the rear position rather than interchangeable front-to-back.
Victory's Take
We build a lot of custom wheelsets at Victory Bicycle Studio, and the SES 3.4 rear rim is one we spec when a rider wants race-level aero performance without overbuilding weight, as long as it’s paired with the correct SES 3.4 front rim rather than a Foundation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free shipping?
We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.
How much does shipping cost?
For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!
How can I track my order?
When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order. If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
