About The Zipp 303 XPLR SW Carbon Rear Bicycle Wheel

The Zipp 303 XPLR SW Carbon Rear Wheel is a 700c hookless carbon gravel race wheel. Zipp built it around a 32mm internal rim width and a 54mm-deep symmetrical profile. Zipp did not start from a road rim and widen it. It applied its Total System Efficiency approach to gravel, so the rim and tire are designed as one system that handles rolling resistance, vibration and aerodynamics together on rough surfaces.

The wide internal profile adds tire air volume, which lets riders run pressures under 30psi without tire squirm. Lower pressure lets the tire soak up surface vibration while keeping grip in corners and traction on climbs. The rim laces to Zipp's ZR1 Disc hub with 66 points of engagement, uses a Center Lock rotor interface and carries a lifetime warranty. Note that this wheel works only with Zipp-approved tires.

Who It's For

  • Gravel racers and long-distance gravel riders running 40–61c tubeless tires

  • Riders who already use, or plan to use, Zipp-approved tires. The Goodyear XPLR Slick and XPLR Inter were designed specifically for this rim.

  • Riders on SRAM XDR or SRAM/Shimano Road drivetrains (a Campagnolo N3W driver is sold separately)

  • Consider a different wheel if you want free choice of tires, ride tires narrower than 40c, need more than 50psi, or your total system weight is over 298 lbs / 135 kg

What to Look For

  • Choose your tire before your wheel. The hookless TSS rim accepts only approved TLR tires from 40c to 61c, set up with a tube or sealant. Check that your tire is on Zipp's approved list.

  • Check rear frame clearance. The rim measures up to 40mm wide outside. Confirm that your frame clears the tire size you plan to run.

  • Specify the driver body and brake interface. Choose XDR or SRAM/Shimano Road when you order. The wheel ships with 12mm end caps and a Center Lock lockring.

Key Features

Rim: The 32mm internal, 54mm-deep hookless rim is the core of the design. The straight-side (TSS) bead wall gives tires a wide, supported base at low pressure. It is also why tire compatibility is restricted and pressure is capped at 50psi / 3.45 bar. Zipp shaped the deep symmetrical profile to blend smoothly into the tire's sidewall for better aerodynamic efficiency on gravel.

Hub: The ZR1 Disc hub is engineered in Germany. Zipp redesigned its seals for better durability. Its 66 points of engagement pick up drive faster when you restart on a steep pitch or put power down out of a technical corner. The hub runs on custom stainless steel 61903 bearings.

Brake interface: The Center Lock rotor mount comes with the lockring included.

Service details: Drive-side spokes are 258mm and 260mm, and non-drive-side spokes are 256mm and 258mm. These are worth keeping on hand for trailside or in-shop truing. Maximum recommended system weight is 298 lbs / 135 kg.

Warranty: Zipp's lifetime warranty covers the wheel.

Rider Intent Summary

  • Biggest strengths: The 32mm internal width supports low-pressure grip and comfort, the 66-point hub engages quickly, and the lifetime warranty backs it up.

  • Tradeoffs: It takes approved tires only, pressure tops out at 50psi, and this is a rear wheel only.

  • What makes it different: Zipp designed it as a gravel rim-and-tire system from the start, not as a road rim modified for gravel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free shipping?

We do offer free shipping on non-bike orders over $100. We do not offer free shipping for bicycles unless it is a one time promotion. Generally, bike shipping will cost $150 and that covers just the shipping of the bike with no assembly. If you were to bring that bike to your local mechanic or bike store, you would pay them their assembly fee. If you choose our Professional Assembly option for $200, our service technicians would assemble the bike before shipping and then re-pack the bike safely for transit. When you receive the bike you would attach the front wheel, attach the seatpost/saddle, and raise the handlebars and clamp them. Those three items do have to be detached to minimize or eliminate the chance of damage in transit.

How much does shipping cost?

For orders of parts, accessories, apparel, etc. on orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of $9.99. Regular bike shipping without assembly is $150, bike shipping with Professional Assembly is an additional $200 (so $350 in total which includes the $150 of regular shipping). Our White Glove Delivery option is $699 and that will cover the assembly of the bike and our White Glove Delivery partner delivering your dream bike to your front door, ready to ride!

How can I track my order?

When you place your online order, you will receive an instantaneous email update with your order number and order details, and shortly after, you will receive a follow up order email with the tracking number for your order.  If you still need assistance with your order, feel free to email us at online@victorybicyclestudio.com and we will respond asap.
